Moving On is a unique project which aims to equip trade union representatives with the skills, knowledge and attitudes necessary to enable them to engage more effectively with and on behalf of their members on the issues of peace and reconciliation, good relations in the workplace, and equity, diversity and interdependence. It will recruit and train experienced representatives who will be encouraged to become champions for change within their trade unions and their workplace. The project activities will be to: - Carry out research to ascertain the most up-to-date information, policy developments, best practice and thinking on the key themes of peace and reconciliation, religion, politics and race.
- Commission a peace and reconciliation training programme for use in the workplace.
- Deliver training sessions on the themes of Peace and Reconciliation; Section 75 of Northern Ireland Act 1998; Equal Status Act 2000; Disability; New Targeting Social Need and Social Inclusion; Good Relations; Issues Without Borders (common experiences either side of the border which unite people and which are related to a number of the Section 75 Equality Categories) and Bullying and Mental Health.
- Develop 3 ‘Moving On' Networks that will work towards mainstreaming good relations and equality in the workplace.
- Organise a final conference to promote the work of the project and the partnerships.
